OpenAI's upcoming o1 model was briefly exposed when users discovered a URL exploit, offering an early peek at its enhanced capabilities before the official release. Here’s what’s new:
Built from scratch, unlike o1-preview's GPT-4 foundation
Handles images, documents, and audio processing
Includes real-time web search capabilities
Uses step-by-step reasoning for complex problems
Includes a 200,000 token window compared to the 32,000 today
Designed specifically for advanced reasoning tasks, this AI represents a significant leap forward in capability. Unlike o1-preview, which was essentially GPT-4 enhanced with reasoning abilities, the full release introduces an entirely new approach to AI problem-solving. This launch brings us closer to the advent of AI agents, as reasoning may well be the key to unlocking their potential. Will it be the ChatGPT’s two-year anniversary gift later this month?!
Google briefly published Jarvis AI in its chrome store in a week of accidental leaks. This leak confirms Google's entry into the AI agent race, joining Anthropic's Claude already controlling computers and OpenAI hinting at autonomous tasks for 2025. While Google plans to focus on web browsing tasks, competitors are pursuing broader computer control capabilities.
