AI News You Should Know

Microsoft has unveiled a comprehensive suite of AI agents at its Nov. 19th Ignite Conference, transforming how users interact with Microsoft 365. The new lineup includes specialized agents for HR tasks, document management, and meeting notes, along with Copilot Actions for custom task automation.

OpenAI has quietly rolled out a significant update to GPT-4o, enhancing both its creative writing abilities and document processing capabilities. The model now generates more natural and engaging content while providing deeper insights when analyzing uploaded files. The improvements focus on making the AI's writing more fluid and human-like, particularly useful for creators working on narratives, marketing content, and poetry.

ChatGPT defeats doctors in diagnosing illnesses: The New York Times published an article analyzing the effectiveness of AI in diagnosing illness. What the small-scale study found was truly surprising: the results suggest that AI is already significantly more effective than human doctors in this area. In the experiment, fifty doctors were given case histories and were asked to suggest diagnoses and explain their reasoning. In this group of fifty doctors, some were randomly assigned to use ChatGPT to assist in their analysis, and the rest had no AI assistance.

Here are the key results from the study that genuinely shocked the AI and healthcare communities alike:

  • Human doctors scored an average of 74%.

  • Human doctors with ChatGPT's assistance scored an improved 76%

  • ChatGPT on its own scored 90%.

The study also suggests that human doctors are over-confident in their own diagnoses and are likely hesitant or resistant to using AI to help. If the human doctors who had ChatGPT's assistance had listened a little bit more to their AI assistant, they likely would have scored closer to 90%.

Gratitude Is Our True Superpower

"Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it." - William Arthur Ward

Thanksgiving always stirs up a lot of emotions for me, and I bet it’s the same for you. It’s this time of year when we all take a moment to count our blessings. My wife and I are especially blessed this year to have all three of our children coming home for Thanksgiving from different parts of the country.

Admittedly, some years it takes a little more effort to find those things to be grateful for, but I firmly believe that gratitude is our true superpower. I hope this Thanksgiving fills you with a deep sense of grace and thankfulness.

As I reflect, I’m incredibly thankful for our podcast listeners and email readers like you. You’ve chosen to spend your valuable time with us, and your support means the world. Your engagement, feedback, and encouragement inspire me to keep sharing meaningful conversations and insights.

I hope you and your family find many things to be grateful for this Thanksgiving.
